Hi All,

Can anyone share their experience about the Data Science (previously Business Analytics) course from Praxis Business School(preferably Bangalore campus) ?

I am planning for the PAT 2019, but it is difficult to find any information regarding the exam date, and subsequent interview and admission dates + other details.

I want to understand what happens post the application submission.

  1. How much time is there between the application process and the actual test date?
  2. does the test happen at one fixed date, or different candidates get different slots depending on when they filled up the application?
  3. If I am targeting Data Science course that begins in JAN 2019, is there enough time to apply and clear the exam? Or should I target the July batch now?

This will be really helpful if I can get a grip on the timelines for the test and the whole process.
The PAT website says that applications and test happens from October right through January, but then how can they begin the batch in JAN itself?

Please share pointers if you have any.

Thanks

Hi RVG,
I did Data Science course from Jan 2018 Bangalore. It is 10 months long program with three semesters. Bangalore has a lot of faculty coming in from industry and they are quite big names in the analytics industry. There is always difference between students from Praxis and students from other college or courses in terms of knowledge at work place or converting the interviews this is mainly due to the extensive syllabus covered in 9 months. In 9 months there will be hardly any holidays especially from the second semester, classes will happen on almost every Saturday and some times Sunday too. Syllabus, Teaching, grading and placements are all the same between Kolkata and Bangalore campus.
The course ends in October and placement starts as early as June. For my batch there was as many as 35 companies that came in for placements for 51 students.

You can apply for the PAT 2019 now but try to apply as soon as possible, the course will begin in Jan last week. The exam will not be as tough as CAT, focus on basic probability should help.
The exam date can be fixed by you. If you had applied earlier it would have happened in some exam centre but now in the later part the process will take place through an online portal, you can sit at home and take the exam.

  1. There will be a maximum of 3-5 days between the process for you now as you are applying late for Jan 2019 batch.
  2. The exam date can be fixed by you. If you had applied earlier it would have happened in some exam centre but now in the later part the process will take place through an online portal, you can sit at home and take the exam.
  3. You can apply for the PAT Jan 2019 now but try to apply as soon as possible, the course will begin in Jan last week. If you are a good candidate and you clear the interview process you should be selected.
If you are a working professional and applying for Sabbatical or in your notice period and the process could not be completed by Jan end I would suggest you not to apply for the Jan batch and focus on July batch.
Else I would suggest you to go ahead and apply.
    All the best.

Thank you @rrakeshrajan,

This was really helpful. I saw some comparisons online where people said that faculty is better in Kolkata, so I was confused. Thank you for answering in detail.

  1. Is the Bangalore campus residential?
  2. What kind of financial aid can I expect if I clear the PAT?
  3. Also, I have not been an MBA aspirant so I will need to practice the Quant + Reasoning + Other topics. In such case if I target the July batch, how early should I register for PAT?
  4. Does PAT exam happen all round tharoundr, or it happens in 2 separate seasons(separately for Jan and July)?
  5. Also, what kind of topics or pre-study should I do if I want to cope up well with all topics taught there?

Thanks and a Happy New Year to you.
