Can a data be neither discrete nor continuous?

This question was prompted to me in a recent interview with an MNC for the role of data scientist.
How do you deal with a data which is neither continuous nor discrete.

Is this even a possibility or have I missed my basics so badly?
Need some assistance to make clear my conscience on this…!

@Bhoopal_Ram

You can take the example of a function F(x):
F(x) = not defined(if x =0)
F(x) = x (if x > 0)
F(x) = -x (if x < 0)

The above function is neither discrete nor continuous between the interval (-inf to +inf).

Ankit,

Thanks for the reply. Can we have an example in practical scenario?
Say we have a data set having variables with such a property??
