How do we check / attribure later purchase behaviour of customers in eCommerce?

Question:

I’m looking into a customer database, and I have an hypothesis that the same customers who came to the website in the afternoon might have made purchase in the evening. How can i prove it without the customers identified (don’t have access to it)?

I would also like to hear some tips on database analytics.

It is difficult to answer the question in current form. What all information is available in your data set / base? Do you have cookie information (normally the way to identify customers? Do you have access to logs of any web analytics solution, you might be using?

If yes, these might help.
