How to update R vesion in Ubuntu

I have recently started using Ubuntu(14.04 LTS) and need to update R from version 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 but I am unable to do so.I am doing:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install r-base
the message that I am getting shows that the version was not upgraded:

How do I update R ?

@shuvayan If you’re installing what’s available in the repo, you’ll have to wait till the packages are updated by the maintainers. Instead, if you, like me, installed it from the CRAN repo, then you should be alerted automatically for updates (assuming you have not turned off auto alerts). FWIW, I still haven’t received the updated to 3.2.2.

Hello @anon,

I updated the version,this is what i did:
1.In the terminal : sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.Then added an entry
deb http:// trusty/ in the sources.list
2.then sudo apt-get update
3.then sudo apt-get install r-base.

Hope this helps!!

After reading your post, I just did a dist-upgrade, and guess what appeared? :smile:

@shuvayan, Thank you
