How to use lines function correctly for plotting line in a given plot

I have plot a data and I want to plot the line to correctly view how each data point is increasing or decreasing to know the correct overview of data.
for example
z<-mtcars

In this plot after plotting line it shows a randomness of lines but I want sequential line.

@sid100158-the lines function take the ordered values because then line will follow correct increasing and decreasing order
you can try this
rank<-order(z)
