What can a business analyst offer for movie ticket booking websites?

There are bunch of things which come to my mind:

  1. You can start by simply looking at the traffic patterns to understand the peaks and troughs of your traffic.
  2. Next, you can look at which channels and sources are people coming from? Which channels are giving you your best customers? What is the return rate and engagement like? What is the life time value and stickiness of these customers.
  3. Once you have identified these aggregate level wins, you can then start at building customer level strategies and campaigns. These could be sending offers to customers, who have stopped using your site. Cross-selling other products (e.g. credit card tie ups) can be another campaigns. Up-selling movie tickets can be another one.
  4. Another area could be movie recommendation. If you know the taste of customers (e.g. which genre of movies a customer has booked in past), you can send active mailers about upcoming movies or sell DVDs of favourite movies to them.

I would consider looking at some of the work Netflix has done in past and creating a strategy along those lines.
