What do you mean by in-memory data processing when it comes to Qlikview

#1

Hello,

I have read many discussion, everywhere its mention that Qlikview is in memory BI tool, what does that actually mean, Is tableau not an in-memory tool…?

I have created a small infographic to help with this

On any system we have more HARD DISK storage than RAM. Qlikview stores the entire data in RAM and therefore it is called in memory This has memory issues because we cannot increase RAM beyond a certain level. Qlikview is generally used for real time applications on relatively small data sets

Tableau relies on pulling data from the Data server or Hard Disk. It caches some data into memory, so it shares some RAM, but the bulk of the data is still on the Hard Disk. Therefore it eliminates the memory issues

Hope this helps. There are numerous articles on these discussions
