What is the best way to use categorical variables in a decision tree model?

Hello guys, I’m new to the data science world and I’m already in love.
I am analyzing educational data on a test that takes place in Brazil6 (I am Brazilian) annually and evaluates university students. Among the questions on the test, there are 26 objective questions related to socioeconomic factors and these are my objects of study.
It turns out that all 26 questions are categorical and I would like to know the best way to generate a good decision tree model. Would you have to convert the attributes to numeric?
I am using the R language and in the chi-square tests all results return p-value 2.2e-16.
Hope someone can give me a light, thanks everyone

Can u elaborate properly your target and input variables
