I am studying about factor analysis and while studying factor analysis I studied that how to generate the scores but I am not able understand in what way it helps in factor analysis.
library(lattice)
z <- mtcars
pairs(z)
model <- prcomp(z, center=TRUE, scale=TRUE)
screeplot(model, main=“Scree Plot”, xlab=“Components”)
screeplot(model, main=“Scree Plot”, type="line"
model_f1<-factanal(z,factor=3,rotation=“varimax”)
model_sc<-factanal(z,factor=3,rotation=“varimax”,scores=“regression”)
head(model_sc$scores)
Factor1 Factor2 Factor3
Mazda RX4 0.8465901 0.6721175 -0.27829936
Mazda RX4 Wag 0.7221255 0.3835219 0.02456662
Datsun 710 0.6862740 -0.5921496 -0.56444514
Hornet 4 Drive -0.8657898 -0.6733527 -0.76659243
Hornet Sportabout -0.8925154 0.8621069 -1.01495860
Valiant -1.0615105 -1.0688503 -0.38290802

@harry-scores= regression implies that it will take the real value and the header of scores specifies that what is the value of each variable to factor component.

Hope this helps!

see https://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-patched/library/stats/html/factanal.html for the section on scores

( you can use help for a function using ? like ?factanal )
